It would be hard to beat this B & B for quality, cleanliness, style and substance.The gourmet breakfast alone would pull me back for another visit.

Amanda was a wonderful hostess.Hildeval was a lovely house with great B & B amenities.

The Hildeval showcases the best of Orkney! Excellent hospitality and in a great location for walking into Kirkwall and as a base for exploring the islands. We stayed for 5 nights and had a super range of breakfasts - all cooked and presented to a high standard. Our room was lovely and had everything we needed to make our stay relaxed and comfortable. We were really looked after by Amanda and George - expert hosts, who went extra mile to make our stay memorable. I thoroughly recommend the Hildeval and would definitely stay there again.

Hildeval is first class the breakfast is really varied and excellent well cooked by George and well served by Amanda the views are superb from the upper floor and its a short walk downhill into Kirkwall and a taxi up the hill back costs just £4.50 so good value. The whole house was impeccable plenty of hand gel and the rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The hospitality tray was topped up on request plus the occasional scottish treat we will definitely stay there againwith no reservation

Hosts were excellent, very welcoming and helpful.Bedroom and communal areas were very clean and up to date.Breakfast was excellent, well prepared with a very good choice of home prepared options.Would very happily visit again.

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Hildeval. Amanda is a superb host, immediately making us feel at home. Everything about Hildeval is so tasteful, with some lovely touches throughout the house. The breakfast is tremendous, and really sets you up for the day. Thank you for making our stay on Orkney so memorable.

Fastidiously clean and really smart/comfortable room and a great breakfast. Short walk into the centre of Kirkwall. Would definitely stay again if visiting the Orkneys.

Hildeval is even better than it looks on the website. Amanda and George made us feel so welcome and our late arrival was dealt with ease. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with hot powerful showers. Every evening on our return there was a small treat waiting at each door (due to Covid your bedroom is not entered during your stay- although Amanda and George checked with us each morning that we had all we needed). The house is a short 10/15 minute walk to the heart of Kirkwall which meant access to the restaurants in the evening was easy, but once back the location was very peaceful. The breakfasts were delicious with a great range of choices and we enjoyed eating them with a panoramic view of the sea and islands. Hildeval is a well run operation, clean, kind, and welcoming.Our needs were met well beyond all expectations.The breakfast was five-star quality.The virus safety was excellent without being overbearing.Location is good.Excellence is reflected in the kinds of people who book there.We could not have been more pleased.

We had a really lovely stay. Amanda was incredibly helpful and breakfast was delicious. A great location as close to town but not in the town centre. It was absolutely perfect!

I spent more than a week at Hildeval recently while on holiday visiting friends in Orkney. This is a first class B&B, comfortable, spotlessly clean and and very managed. While being reassuringly Covid-aware, Amanda the owner is welcoming, informative, relaxed and friendly. I would definitely stay there again and thoroughly recommend it.

Only stayed one night and arrived late as came in off the Shetland ferry, but the key and information was as the text said and the the room had everything we needed.Breakfast was very good too!

Very comfortable. Immaculately clean. Great breakfast. Plenty of hard standing area to park my motorbike on the drive. It is easily accessible and you can walk to and from the centre of Kirkwall.I strongly recommend Hildeval.

A lovely welcome, very relaxed yet high standards.The room was super - well laid out and clean, lovely decor and it was great to have a fridge and a microwave.Breakfast was gorgeous and what a stunning dining room, with outstanding views across the bay.What a joy to sit in the beautiful garden and rest.I'd certainly advise others to stay and enjoy the wonderful hospitality.

Couldn't find a better place to stay in Kirkwall, made so welcome so accomodating, everything I need - would recommend to anyone

We stayed 2 nights and we were very well looked after. A bright, clean room with a very comfortable bed. A lovely selection for breakfast using local produce if you opted for a cooked one. All very tasty. Friendly host who looks out for her customers needs eg offered us an evening meal if required (Covid restrictions on eating out were in place at the time we stayed).

We have travelled around Scotland for 2 weeks and this was our favourite place that we stayed.The room was very comfortable, warm and nicely decorated. The bathroom was modern and had a great shower in it.The breakfast was exceptional as we were tired of just having a full English and having the option of pancakes was much appreciated and they were delicious!Amanda was very friendly and gave us recommendations of places to visit. She also allowed us to use the breakfast room to eat our takeaway due to the current restrictions in Scotland and that was much appreciated as it meant additional cleaning for her.The B&B definitely felt covid secure which was very reassuring.Great location just outside of Kirkwall which was convenient when we got in late on the Shetland ferry.

Friendly, spotlessly clean and very comfortable place to be. Excellent breakfast. I would definitely stay again!

The shower was exceptional with both shampoo and soap dispensers - and room to wash easily.The breakfast was well cooked and of great portion size and quality. The view from the dining room was the best I have had in comparison with other B&B I have used in Kirkwall.The price was substantially lower than I have normally paid.Amanda was the perfect host remaining friendly and interested in seeing that I was happy.Westie was also worth the visit :)I will definitely use this establishment in future visits.

From start of visit though I was only there for one night it was superb George and Amanda were perfect hosts and from the great welcome that I received when I arrived I knew I had found a special place.

I have booked this for a work colleague and he loves staying at Hildeval, they are so helpful and accomodating, accommodation is lovely and has been done with a lot of love and care and the breakfast is out of this world.Would advise anyone to stay there - it really is outstanding.

We were made to feel very welcome. In light of covid, every precaution was taken. Amanda was very informative and helpful. This was our first visit to Orkney, so local advice was much appreciated. We should mention the exceptionally good,made-to-order breakfast, served in a beautiful room with views over to the next island. The ten minute walk to the town centre was not a problem, though might not be sos uitable for those with limited mobility.

I like very much those small family bed-and-breakfast-hotels! Hildeval is a peaceful and personal place in the Kirkwalls outskirts. And Amanda was a wonderful host and cook - famous for her great breakfasts. Her rich experience in hosting guests showed up in a ideal mixture of respectful politeness and sincere interest. I hope we'll meet next time I come to the Orkneys.

Great host and the best breakfast I have had so far. The room was spotless.We found the room to hot and the window was locked.The room next door left very early and we could hear there every movement. Despite that I would highly recommend Hidival.

What a fabulousfind. I had my own wee studio apartment with a kitchen and it was great. Immaculately clean, comfortable and quiet. The owner was helpful and friendly without being intrusive. I loved it and will be back.

This is a very comfortable B&B. The view is beautiful, the food superior, and the owners charming.

Amanda & George are THE best hosts, kind welcoming and lovely, we were a party of 4 and 2 rooms over a 3 night stay wish it could’ve been longer,rooms were cosy comfortable very clean,location is good only short walk to shops eataries etc and a good base to explore the island, plenty of easy parking too.The best breakfasts we had on our 3 week trip to the uk ( even from some 5 star hotels !) and the view from the guest lounge I could sit there all day WOW !Stylish charming decor, we all slept like Angels here.#Hildeval is Happiness!

The B&B is modern and has got everything you possibly want. Very good breakfast also for vegetarians. It is only 15 minutes walking to downtown.

An absolute gem of B&B in Kirkwall. Amanda was a fantastic host, accomodation was first class, power shower, fluffy dressing gowns, lovely soft beds. Breakfast was great, with full scottish for Mrs F and Smoked salmon & scrambled eggs for me. Daughter had pancakes with fruit and maple syrup. Highly recommended

The room was very comfortable and included a small kitchen - ideal for guests who want to warm food etc. Very well equipped and clean. The property is at the top of the hill with views over the sea and only a ten minute walk down the hill to the town. A great location!

We arrived at Hildeval after 2 weeks of travel around the UK and visiting numerous B&B, hotels etc. The accomodation was excellent. Warm, quiet and comfortable with very well appointed rooms.The bathrooms were excellent and I had the best 2 nights sleep of the entire trip so far. Breakfast was beautifully prepared and I liked the ability to say just what I would like. We walked to and from town with ease but especially enjoyed the amazing view from the lounge and breakfast area. Not the cheapest B&B, but worth every penny.

I was delighted to find Hildeval . It doesn't claim to be more than it is but what it is is wonderful and it scores right at the top end. You will never find accommodation which is cleaner or a bed which is more comfortable. The very pleasant landlady could not have been more welcoming.Travellers should put this guesthouse high on their list of preferred options.I will not hesitate to stay there again.

My stay with you was great thank you. A comfortable room and good food. Not having wi-fi was not too much of a problem but I did notice some of the lights were not working in my room but I forgot to mention this at the time.

We really enjoyed our stay for our 20th wedding anniversary holiday - and were especially pleased and surprised to be welcomed with a bottle of bubbly to celebrate - what a lovely touch. The room was well appointed and comfortable, the breakfast was luxurious, the view from the dining room window (upstairs) was lovely, and the welcome was warm and friendly. Just a short walk into the town centre, so really our visit couldn't be bettered.

We stayed two nights at Hildeval in August and were treated very well.Facilities are great, with a lounge and TV available for guests (we didn't use the lounge, but it was nice to have it there.Location is good - just a short walk into town.Hosts are very friendly.View of the sea from the lounge/breakfast room is outstanding.Definitely would recommend the Hildeval.

Both myself and my husband being first time visitor to Orkney. We had a fantastic stay with gerry and sheila the warm welcome we both recieved. And the room was perfect and the breakfast in the morning was just what you need to set you up for the day. We both would come back a stay and also recommend the Hildeval B&B to friends amd family.

I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely room I had during the 4 nights that I stayed in Hildeval.It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and attractive.Breakfast was also very pleasant with a good selection of juice, cereals, fruit, toast and cooked options, with plenty of fresh coffee.I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone who requires somewhere just out of Kirkwall centre, but close enough to walk into town.I walked in and out every day, apart from when it rained heavily one evening.Thank you so much to the owners for making my stay so comfortable, warm and welcoming.

Placed in the most quiet area of the town.Excellent grass and parking area, even with electric car connection (I think from the owner, but deserves mentioning)Great breakfast in a HUGE dining room with fantastic views and binoculars available.Fantastic room, great facilities and appliances as listed, .Nice room, with big windows.Pet friendly as they have a couple of friendly dogs that willplay with you even being a stranger if you like (I suppose they bark eventually??, but was not able to check, really friendly and silent).

We were looked after very well. Our late arrival was organised perfectly. Our bicycles were safe and secure. The room was well presented, large and comfortable.Breakfast was delicious and the breakfast room has a view to die for. Excellent.

Shirley and Gerry gave us a lovely stay at Hildeval. A very warm welcome and the place is run very professionally. The house is ideally situated - on a quiet road within a short walk of the town centre and with a beautiful view over the sea. The room was well equipped, very clean and the breakfast excellent. We would definitely go back there.

Though entering what looks like a home our room was of hotel standard with a lovely shower. Parking was never a problem and the breakfast good. The owners, and their dogs were very friendly. A picnic bench on their front lawn would be nice. That way we could sit on it in the evening and enjoy the great views

10 minute walk into Kirkwall. Owners really friendly and helpful in making you comfort-able. They helped me mail a package. Rooms all clean and modern. Two large dogs on premises.

Only one overnight but after a hard day running around the islands the Hildeval was quiet and restful.Really good for recharging the batteries ready for the next day.Breakfast very good, view from the Breakfast Room stunning all backed up with an excellent service.

Perfect location and room for my stay in Orkney. Stayed in a single room, which was comfortable and cosy. Lovely breakfast and very welcoming hosts. The B&B is only a 10 minute walk from the shops, pubs/restaurants in Kirkwall and a great base for an Orkney trip.

We stayed seven men travelling around Scotland visiting distilleries. Could go back to Orkney again without visiting any distillery Hildelval is one of the best B&B I ever stayed at. I can't find anything at all to complain about. Clean, modern, comfortable bed breakfast was relly nice. Simply first class!!!

SAT NAV let us down finding the place but a quick phone call sorted that. Beautiful panoramic view of Scapa Flow from a delightful sitting room come breakfast room. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Hosts were excellent and I was made to feel very welcome. I didn't plan my trip very well, so I was left hanging around - but this was no problem and they were more than accommodating.

Was a lovely bed and breakfast , the owners were absolutely lovely , very helpful , friendly and breakfast was a feast would recommend it to anyone .

I had to come to Kirkwall in an emergency & only booked 3hours in advance & in hindsight should of rung.I was very distressed upon arrival, whilst hadn't noticed booking was not a bother & even was given a welcome hug, cup of tea & time just to gather myself. A wonderful breakfast & stay, would highly recommend.
